Lokwa is a victim of traditional customs and HIV/AIDS. His father died when he was young and has been abandoned by his sick mother. Before coming to live at the Ngatha Childrens Homestead & Learning Center, Lokwa lived under the care of his elderly grandpa. He desperately needed a good environment in order to grow well and have the opportunity to attend school. He was extremely malnourished when he arrived at his new home.
