Both parents died of HIV/AIDS in the year 2005. She and her older sister, Mary Wanjiru are orphaned. Before coming to live and learn at Ngatha, Frasia and Mary lived with her aged and frail grandparents. The grandparents at times go without food. They are landless and settled on government land.
