<< Ngatha Emergency Food Fund

Much of Kenya, including the Central Highlands, is in its second of year of a severe drought/famine cycle due to lack of rainfall, crop failure and livestock losses caused by under-production and starvation.  Ngatha International Childrens Homestead & Learning Center is struggling to feed & sustain its orphans and students.  Costs for food & supplies have increased nearly 130%.  The local government has enforced water rationing and has banned any irrigation along Pesi river (which flows thru the Ngatha property).

100% of all donations to Ngatha's Emergency Food Relief Fund will go directly to the Children's Homestead & Learning Center, in Ngamini Village.

Thank you for your prayers and generosity.

A generous man will prosper;
he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. - Proverbs 11:24-25

In the Kikuyu language of East Africa,
Ngatha means "Virtuous Woman".

PRAYER REQUESTS

  • Our Board of Directors & U.S. volunteers do not, (and will not) receive an income for their participation in Ngatha International.  PLEASE PRAY FOR THEIR CONTINUED INVOLVEMENT, PASSION, CREATIVITY, PHYSICAL & SPIRITUAL RENEWAL AS WE CONTINUE TO SEEK SPONSORSHIPS & SUPPORT ALL WHILE JUGGLING FULL TIME JOBS, HOUSEHOLDS, FAMILIES & OTHER ACTIVITIES.
  • Although we are still growing step by step, we are unable to meet our monthly budget with a regular influx of cash flow required to keep the children's home & learning center operational.  PLEASE PRAY THAT ANGELS WILL CONTINUE TO COME IN SUPPORT OF THE CHILDREN & CAREGIVERS OF NGAMINI VILLAGE.  WE URGENTLY NEED AT LEAST 20 (TWENTY) MORE CHILD SPONSORS AT $36.00 PER MONTH AND 78 (SEVENTY-EIGHT) EDUCATIONAL SPONSORS AT $10.00 PER MONTH IN ORDER TO MEET OUR BUDGET FOR FOOD, SALARIES, SUPPLIES & OPERATIONAL EXPENSES.
  • The teachers, caregivers and staff in Ngamini Village have had to make many sacrifices in order to keep and maintain a loving & nurturing environment for the orphans and students.  PLEASE PRAY FOR THEIR CONTINUED PATIENCE, FAITH & FORTITUDE AS WE CONTINUE TO SEEK OUT SPONSORS, SUPPORTERS AND PRAYER PARTNERS.
  • Kenya has been thrown into deep turmoil since the elections in December, 2007.  PLEASE PRAY FOR PEACE AND STABILITY FOR ALL CITIZENS OF KENYA, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO HAVE BECOME VICTIMS OF ETHNIC AND POLITICAL VIOLENCE.  DROUGHT & FAMINE HAS FOLLOWED THE TURMOIL OF THE 2007 ELECTIONS AND CONTINUES  TO BE A DEBILITATING PROBLEM THROUGH THE REST OF 2009 AND INTO 2010.
  • Many costs continue to rise in the United States and the fear of an on-going recession are making an impact at every turn.  PLEASE PRAY THAT AMERICANS WILL STILL FIND WAYS TO BE GENEROUS IN THOUGHT, WORD AND DEED.

Our Board of Directors and volunteers do not receive compensation.  Board members pay all U.S. operational expenses out of their own pockets, (i.e. website hosting, photo processing, accounting fees, postage, telephone charges, etc.)  With the exception of a small amount of fundraising costs, all contributions go directly to support the Ngatha International Children's Homestead and Learning Center in Ngamini Village.

Board members and volunteers traveling to Kenya pay their own airline and in-country expenses out-of-pocket.  No contributions are used.

Never imagine, even for a moment, that helping to change the life of ONE person is a futile endeavor.  Indeed, it might be one of the few feasible solutions to abject poverty in the world today.
